October Newsletter

Dear MAE families,

MAE is excited about all the wonderful things Fall 2019 will hold for us. We have many things planned for the month of October. Our first AR event is one of those special events. AR is an optional reading incentive program for our 1st and 2nd grade students. Students will need to read at home and return ready to complete AR tests at the start of each day to earn the points needed to attend the celebrations. If you and your student are interested in participating in this optional incentive program, encourage them to check out books during open checkout times, read the books at home and let their teacher know when they are ready for an AR test. Throughout the year, you can log into the parent portal to check their progress. Building a strong reading foundation is vital for future success. AR is just one of the ways we are developing strong readers here at MAE!

Also of special importance this month is the kickoff for our Fall Fundraiser. I want to say thank you in advance for your support of our PTO’s fundraising efforts. We could not provide the same level of programming without the funds the PTO generates. Thanks to PTO funds we have large and safe playgrounds for our students to play on, technology such as chrome book carts, iPad stations and document cameras for our classrooms, and a dynamic arts program which includes a certified art teacher.

This month will also conclude our 1st 9 weeks of instruction. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 17th. Please look through these carefully. Besides creating a safe and loving environment, academic excellence is our top priority. Your teachers will begin scheduling conferences this month, but if you have questions or concerns now, please reach out to us as soon as possible. We need your help to ensure that all students are progressing to their fullest potential.

Thank you again for all of your support this school year. If Mr. B or I can ever be of any help to you, please reach out to us. MAE is Where the HEART is, and it is our hearts’ desire to provide the very best educational experience for your student.

Sincerely,

Melissa Philley
